Jason; I just wanted to ask a few questions that I have not seen addressed yet.
Question #1 - Did the Board vote to keep the current boundries from last year or will the SOAS be open to everyone this year?
Question #2 - How much are entry fees and what is the cost of membership?
Question #3 - What are the requirements to be eligible for the Grand Finals?
Thanks for getting the schedule re-posted.

I am glad to see that we are going to Emerald Lanes. I have bowled there the last 2 years in the Senior All Stars. The Zentaras are great hosts. It says 1 squad (24 lane center), I hope that if we get more than 72 entries, we could change that to 2 squads and run it so that we don't interupt their Sunday League.

Hello Dennis,
#1 - The eligibility boundary was only briefly discussed at the meeting in July, and has not really been discussed since. We have never had a vote to change anything, so last year's rule would still be in effect (A boundary of Eugene to Redding, Bend to the Coast, an eligible bowler must bowl in a center within the boundary unless the bowler was a SOAS member prior to last season.)
#2 - Entry Fees and Membership are the same as last season, $75 per tournament and $25 for the season respectively.
#3 - The eligibility for Grand Finals will be discussed and voted on at the first tournament of the season at Lava Lanes (Sept 23rd). The board has discussed many different options, but the general consensus has been something along the following lines:
* 4 tournaments bowled (out of 7 regular season stops)
* Grand Finals tournament format (no high points) with a predetermined # from point standings to be seeded to finals with all other eligible bowlers bowling a qualifier for a predetermined # of remaining spots in Grand Finals.
* Qualifier tournament cashes on a 1 to 3 ratio (including advancing bowlers).
* The Grand Finals format will be worked out. It is likely to be similar to last season with possible small changes (a total of three 6 game blocks, cuts after each - One block Saturday, Two on Sunday for example).
In regards to the Emerald Lanes tournament, I was unable to speak with the proper management yesterday and will be attempting to contact Brian Zientara today to finalize all the details. In our previous conversation, Brian had requested one squad and had said they will need us to be done with the tournament by no later than 5:00 PM due to a league that starts at 6:00 PM (they need time to re-oil & clean-up). I let him know that we would being willing to make some accommodations to the center as we have done in the past at other centers. I will know more details once I speak with Brian.
Thanks,
Jason

I just finished speaking with Brian Zientara of Emerald Lanes. Due to a previously scheduled event, we have moved the date of the tournament to November 18th. Brian reaffirmed that they preferred a one squad tournament and that they will need us to be finished by 5:00 PM, which I believe to be no problem and I told him that we will make that arrangement work.
Personally, I want to thank Emerald Lanes for working with SOAS this year and hope that the event is a success for both them and us.
Jason
