Brian; Thanks for the recap. Well done. I see that you had done some of the changes on the main site under rule book. That is very helpful to see what changes have been made. That's why I was a little surprised when I found the change in awards as I read further. So do you understand my point that not all the changes are listed? I'm drinking a cold one as we speak.

Dennis, As far as the banquet goes, we have tabled that discussion until our next board meeting later this season. When we have something more to discuss on that matter, we will announce it. Jason Now that we know that the year end awards will be after the "Grand Finals", I would suggest we cancel the banquet and save the money that is spent on it and add that amount to the prize fund. Is this the more discussion on the issue that you are referring to? I would suggest taking action on this as soon as possible. You know how popular these chicken dinners are. I can read the writing on the wall. Anyone else?

We talked about that as a possiblity, but we had not come to a final decision as of yet. We will be speaking with Dean Kerr of Showtime to discuss some other options as well. Like I said earlier, when we (the board) come to a final decision, we will let everyone know - Grand Finals is still 6 months and two weeks away right now, we would rather make sure we are making the right decision for the entire organization than make a hurried one that is less popular.

Jason;
I don't think it is up to you (the Board) to come up with the final decision on this matter. We (the Members) have the right to decide on this, since we have paid our membership dues thinking that a portion of that fee is going towards the banquet. The longer we wait to make a decision, the greater likelihood that the votes will be split. Especially if a lot of bowlers don't think they will be making the Grand Finals.
Since we are operating under the current playing rules, any changes to them must be voted on and approved by a majority vote according to; Article F - Any decision involving changes to the bylaws or Playing Rules shall be decided by a vote of the General Membership.
Maybe we have some other options that should be pursued, discussed and presented. What about putting some of the money into the monthly tournaments to help lower the cost of entry fees to encourage more participation, or increase the bottom payouts. Whatever the answer is, shouldn't we be openly discussing them?

We as a board are on the same path as your thinking. We want to put some ideas for the membership fee on paper and let the members vote. We are looking at the next tourney as that vote. What we have thrown around(with no definite answers) is no banquet with awards to be given out at first stop next year prior to bowling. Thus the membership fee would go to the grand finals for all who commit to bowling the # to be elgible. Thus paying more money through out the whole grand finals. Another idea is having the banquet as normal just the sat before the opening tourney. See ya all this weekend and good luck to all bowling the O.B.A.

Wynn; Thanks for the post. From Jason's last post it didn't sound like the membership was going to be involved in the decision. Especially when he said "when the Board comes to a decision we will let everyone know," and "we would rather make sure we are making the right decision for the entire organization than make a hurried one that is less popular."
When you say next tournament - do you mean the Eugene stop?

A sort of bi polar look at the same issue. ?? I had read the sponsorship thread earlier and was miffed, now this? I do appreciate Cookiemonster's remark of criticize in private and praise in public.
