I was looking at the grand finals format on the entry form - when did it change back to 24 games? I don't remember this being a topic of discussion. We used to do this and I believe the general consensus was that it was (expletive) miserable. For the grand finals hopefuls they have to bowl 13 games on Saturday and 16 games on Sunday - then get in the car and drive for 4 hours plus. Is it just me or does this still sound like a bad idea. I think the three sets of 6 games was plenty to decide who bowled the best all weekend and decreases the risk of putting someone in traction or having their hand look like a bloody infected toe-thumbed victor steffan clone. Plus I can only assume that we are paying for lineage, at 3 dollars a game that's 432 dollars extra, with no change in the top five payout that is a roughly 22.75 higher check amount for 6-24th. I know that there are a lot of new people from bend but for the rest of the core SOBA contingent bend is not only an expensive place to stay, but is really far away which adds to the time/cost commitment of the event.
Anyway, I hope this "devil's advocate" post will lead to some discussion about what the bowlers feel is the most FUN tournament format either for this year or next. I apologize if this topic was covered on Myspace or Facebook or Instachat, I am still stuck in the 90's and will not be privy to the info shared on these mediums first hand for the foreseeable future.
