FIRST ANNUAL ANDY ANDERSON
UNDER/OVER DOUBLES WON BY
BALL/EILENBERGER
The first annual Andy Anderson over/under doubles was held Sunday Feb. 24th
at Showtime Family Lanes in Grants Pass. We had another great turnout of 40
teams bowling for over $6,000 in prize money. The qualifying was led by Joe
Lipan of Corvallis and Frank Deitz, Jr. of Salem they shot a 10 game total
of 2336 highlighted by Joe's two 300 games. He had 300 number 1 the first
game of qualifying and the 2nd 300 came in the 4th game of qualifying. 2nd
in qualifying was Mike Ewing and Bill Starnes. After the qualifying round
the field was cut to the top 14 teams and they bowled another five game
match play set. The leaders at the end of that set was Garret Ball and Chuck
Eilenberger they shot 2518.5 for the 10 games with bonus pins added. In the
5 games they only lost 7.5 pins of bonus when they tied an individual game
in the last game. In 2nd place belonged too Frank Dietz, Jr. and Joe Lipan.
One of the highlights of the semi-finals happened in the last game when
Michael Stickney of Eureka, Ca. shot a 300 game.
In the finals Viggers and Stickney lost to Guined and Lindberg 321 to 419.
Guined and Lindberg were then defeated by Dietz and Lipan 371 to 440. This
set up the championship match between the top 2 finishers. Garret Ball and
Chuck Eilenberger ran away with the last match shooting 490 to Dietz and
Lipan's 430.
It was a long day with lot's of good scores and went pretty smooth
thanks to the hard work of Chris Maitrejean and Karen Eilenberger. They both
came through when I needed them. Also to Gloria Surprise for helping sell
raffle tickets. Bill Brickey won the Ebonite NVS.
Next month's tournament is March 16th at Harbor Bowl in Eureka, Ca. it is a
one day only tournament with no pro-am. Harbor Bowl is putting in $500.00
added for this tournament so let me know ASAP if you are going to be able to
bowl. We have limited space for this one. Write me at askbob@clearwire.net.
