Can someone that’s already in the top 16 in the grand finals, bowl the qualifier as well for a little tune up? Haven’t seen any rules against it so just curious!!

I don't believe anyone has ever asked before. The organization does have to pay lineage to the center for every bowler bowling the qualifier, so that is additional expense. My guess is if one bowler asked to do it and was granted approval, then others in the top 16 in points that are seeded into the GF would as well. This would not only increase lineage, but it increases the time and effort to run the qualifier.
When the Southern Oregon Masters existed, the defending champion was automatically given a spot into the matchplay finals the next year, mimicking what the USBC Masters does with the defending champion. Bill had the rule that if the defending champion chose to bowl the qualifier, then they forfeited their automatic spot and would have to qualify. This seems to be a similar situation and I personally would feel that the rule should be along the same lines. Just food for thought.
